Monski Mouse’s Baby Disco Dance Hall is a music and dance event for parents and children under 5, hosted by DJ Monski Mouse and her dancers. Performing at arts festivals internationally since its sold-out debut season at the Adelaide Fringe in 2012, Monski’s Disco has graced spiegeltent and theatre dance-floors from the Edinburgh Fringe to London Southbank Centre to outback South Australian towns.

In 2014 the Disco had its biggest year to date appearing at the Adelaide Fringe, Ten Days on the Island, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in an extended season in the London Wonderground at Southbank Centre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Spark Children’s Festival, Brighton Fringe, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, and Salisbury International Arts Festival.

Designed to encourage and foster the joy of music, dance and play, for parent and child alike, Monski’s Disco features Monski Mouse at the decks and two early childhood performers/dancers who lead the fun, plus a soft furnishing ‘baby area’ for the non-walkers to roll around!

Expect to do some high-energy smiling to retro hits, pop favorites and funky nursery rhymes as heads and shoulders, knees and toes bop till they drop. Get your disco-dancing-booties on!

Q: What age is the Baby Disco Dance Hall aimed at?
A: Baby Disco Dance Hall is aimed at children between 0-5 years and their parents/carers.

Q: Can I bring children older that 5 years to the Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: Yes you can, BUT the show really is aimed at the wee ones so we recommend not bringing older children unless they are up for helping smaller siblings or don’t mind early childhood work.

Q: Do I need a ticket for my child/baby at Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: All Disco attendees require a ticket except for children under 6 months of age.

Q: Who created Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: Monski Mouse developed the concept for Baby Disco Dance Hall with consultation from early childhood theatre maker and choreographer, Ninian Donald and early childhood education specialist Emma Anderson. Ninian and Emma worked as the Monski Mouse Dancers in the first and some subsequent seasons of the show.

Q: Does Monski Mouse take song requests?
A: Sorry, No. The show has a set, setlist locked in for each season or session.

Q: What should I wear to Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: Dress to impress disco style! Dancing shoes or booties, ready to be glam and dancing!

Q: Who should I bring to Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: All adults must attend with a child (under 5), Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and friends are all welcome! Dancing is more fun with the ones you love!

Q: Who are the Monski Mouse Dancers at Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: Monski Mouse performs Baby Disco Dance Hall with two dancers (usually a male and a female), her dancers are mainly actors and circus/cabaret performers experienced in Early Childhood theatre. See our new cast listings below.

Q: How long is a session of Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: The show runs for about 50 minutes - it is a structured show with a beginning middle and end, not just a freeform club, tailored to the attention span and energy levels of the under 5’s (and Mum and Dad).

Q: Who dances most at Baby Disco Dance Hall, the kids or the parents/carers?
A: We expect big people to join in with their littles ones and show them how its done, the more the adults put in the more your children will get out of the event.

Q: What if my kid doesn’t dance at the Baby Disco Dance Hall?
A: Not all kids dance straight away, some are taking it all in and will dance at home, or another time, the more you dance and join in the more likely your kids will too.

Baby Disco Dance Hall is hosted by DJ Monski Mouse, and the Monski Mouse Dancers, (usually two per show).
